After months of plans and prayers, we are beginning to see some wonderful changes occurring on the University Hills/Living Center campus. You won't see exterior construction activity for some time, but interior redesign is bustling. The staff and residents of The Living Center have been wonderfully patient and pliable as renovation begins. We thank them for understanding that the culmination of the renovation will be a beautiful community to serve residents for years to come. Here are some highlights of the construction activity:
The Living Center - As of June 2008, the second floor has been vacated, and residents from that floor have moved to completely remodeled apartment homes. Fresh paint in warm earth tones, new carpet, bathroom fixtures and flooring, complement the new warm wood kitchen cabinetry, flooring and appliances. What was already a great place to live is even better!
Vacation of the second floor clears the way for the new Assisted Living and Memory Support communities. Work is scheduled to begin in July with about a 5-month construction period. The result will be 22 wonderful apartment homes featuring several floor plans, and common areas that boast country kitchens, living rooms, and libraries along with an outdoor deck to savor Colorado's climate. The interior design is rich and warm, featuring the colors of fall. Stop by to pick up a brochure or floor plan, and ask to see the gorgeous color board that allows you to personally see the fantastic fabrics and colors. We love to share our excitement, and we think you may decide there's a perfect home for you at Christian Living Communities.
University Hills - Drawings for the new Health Center and the first phase of the Town Center continue to be developed. The 2-story Health Center will include private suites for 48 residents and semi-private suites for 16. Each suite will have its own private bath and shower. A bathing spa will be available on each floor to pamper our residents in the whirlpool bath. The dining venues will also include a country kitchen feature providing residents with more cook-to-order and flexible dining options. Beautiful community areas are planned for visiting, gathering and life enrichment opportunities. The therapy space and features will be greatly enhanced, as will the beauty and barber shop.
The first phase of the Town Center will include a "marketplace" dining venue where residents and guests can drop in for meals at their leisure. The comfortable cafe style ambiance will complement cook-to-order options as well as a full lunch and dinner menu. Take-out and a number of other convenience services will be available. The main kitchen will be fully renovated to meet the future needs of the community. Additional features of the Town Center will include lovely living and life enrichment areas and an expanded Windmill Boutique gift shop. Construction of the new Health Center and Phase I of the Town Center is scheduled to begin near the end of this year and be completed by April 2010.
In the meantime, some minor changes will take place at our current building so that we'll be ready to move our skilled care residents into what is now our Assisted Living community.
The final phase of construction is set to begin about May 2010. It will consist of a new 4-story building with 71 Independent Living apartment homes for Life Care residents and Phase II of the Town Center. Spacious one and two-bedroom apartment will be available and our life care residents will benefit from a life care program assuring them of life time access to the full continuum of care. Phase II of the Town Center will include a fine dining venue, an ample fellowship/meeting venue serving the entire campus, and a fully-equipped fitness center with exercise machines and open floor space for classes. We hope to welcome residents by August 2011.
